There has been a serious collision on the M6 northbound this morning. As a result an HGV has gone onto the verge and hit the railway bridge support on the west side of the bridge. The line is the WCML branch from Crewe to Wilmslow and this crosses the M-way between Sandbach and Holmes Chapel.
Sounds nasty and the air ambulance has been on the scene. Hope that everyone is OK.
Local Northern stoppers from Manchester are turning at Holmes Chapel with buses running between Holmes Chapel and Crewe
TfW are running buses from Crewe to Manchester.
Avanti are diverting via Macclesfield.
Rather different circumstances to the other bridge bashes that have been reported on here in the last week or so.
