New beginnings...
With it being the start of the new TPE & Northern franchises, I decided to make use of a day and go to see what I could score up in t'north....
844 turned up on my 28 to Wolverhampton, taking 40 minutes to reach Wolverhampton at 0920. I brought a West Mids Day Ranger (Reserve in case of issues at Crewe...) and boarded 390039 on 9S47 (0937 to Glasgow Central), which reached Crewe at 1007, where I promptly got lost in the station! Having worked out where the ticket office was, I went and bought a Cheshire Day Ranger and went down to the platform to board the 1021 Arriva Trains Wales service to Chester, 1D54, which was 150236, a score. Arriving in Chester, I went to wait for the 1101 Merseyrail service to Liverpool Lime Street, 2C20, which turned out as 508131 (my first 3rd Rail unit! And damn, they don't half take off!)
At Lime Street, I belted it for the 1152 East Midlands Trains service to Norwich, calling at Manchester (1L10), which was formed of 158788 & 158865, getting me into Manchester at around 1240, where I dashed to get a photo of 185108, only to realise that it wasn't going out! So I boarded 185136 to Manchester Airport, mainly to recharge my phone a bit! 185124 provided the traction back to Piccadilly, where I went and did some Bus/Tram spotting and got some lunch.
175112 on*1V46 provided the trip back to Crewe, arriving at 1509, in time to photo the 1511 from Shrewsbury, which was 150264. After this, I decided to see what the buses are like around Crewe. 65731 (YN05 HCX) provided my 3 into the Bus Station, and good god, does it look crap in comparison to even Walsall! After a brief time spotting, I boarded Arriva 4102 (CX55 EAJ) on the 38 back the Rail Station (Yes, because a 55 plate B7TL is definitely a Sapphire substitute!)
390122 provided my last train of my exploration, working 9M56, the 1601 towards London Euston, reaching Wolverhampton at 1632. Coincidentally, my last bus was also my first, as 844 turned up again! This time on the 1710 28 to Willenhall, which got me back home around 1750.

A WMDR just to do Wolvo to Crewe and back seems such a waste!

The original plan I had was to go down the Trent Valley to Tamworth, then back into Birmingham on my return, I got back to Crewe a bit later than I thought, and was shattered, so I went straight back to Wolves, hence the West Mids Day Ranger.

Not my least favourite livery, but definitely not my favourite! I preferred the older "Dynamic Lines" livery if I'm honest

Just caught up (Tapatalk is working again!) with your trips - a good mix of buses and trains, although that does seem to be a waste of a WMDR...

If it's units/locos you're after more than mileage then you could take the XC 221 from Banbury to Oxford instead of Reading on the 08:55 and then do the following.
09:37 Oxford-Didcot 09:49 (GWR 165/166)
09:56 Didcot-Swindon 10:12 (GWR HST)
And then pick up the Temple Meads train to Bath from there (which would be a +13)

Decided to Liverpool properly fir the first time (this was 11th April btw), so unwittingly found myself on the tail end of signal failures at New Street...
NXWM 4602 provided my 529 into Wolverhampton on the 0855 from Willenhall, arriving at 0908, where I went to top up my bus pass, and get a ticket to Crewe, with time to spare for the 0937 Virgin service to Glasgow via Crewe, however, the 0920 LM service arrived first at 0934, which was 350251, taking me to Crewe, arriving at 1009. A while or so later, the next Liverpool bound service arrived, which was 350116 on the 1033 to Lime Street which actually departed at 1048, arriving in Liverpool at 1125. Once I'd purchased my day ticket and went for the Merseyrail service to Liverpool Central, which was 507031, where I changed onto another service to South Parkway, which was 508117.
At South Parkway, I decided to use the bus to get back, my vehicle being 4563 (DK64 BVU) on the Arriva 86A. My only description of these is meh. After an arse numbing 45 minutes on an E400 Mk2, I alighted at Liverpool ONE, I think (?) and did some spotting, until I boarded 27905 (SN63 NBA) back to Liverpool Central, art which point I got some food, and boarded 508114 to James Street, swapping to 507028 to get to Lime Street. At Lime Street, I went for the 1339 Northern service to South Parkway, which was 319367 (yay, a 319!) which arrived at South Parkway at 1350. My return trip was formed of 350257 on the 1400 LM service back to Lime Street, where I went Bus spotting again.
At around 1430, I went to wait to board the 1447 Virgin service to London Euston via Crewe, whee I would disembark. This was formed of 390112 which got me in at 1521. I waited for the 1549 LM service which was 350251, of course it would be! Sigh. 350251 got me back into Wolverhampton at 1626, where I preceeded to get the 28 back to my nans, which was 849 (SN64 OEC). My bus home from my nans was 4260 (BU51 RXW), also ending my half term! Eventful as it was, I'm glad to be back at school, as my exams are in less than 3 weeks and I am bricking it!

Sounds like a good time in Liverpool! 45 minutes on a bus from South Parkway to Liverpool though... It's less than 6 miles!

With these few weeks now being vital in the long haul, I've only had a few days to go travelling, and the few days I have are Sundays, which are a bit crap if I'm honest...
Anyway, back to my trip last Sunday...
Arriva 2294 turned up on my first 41 from Willenhall to Walsall, albeit a bit late, due 1031, arr 1042, which got me there at 1124, an extremely tight connection for the 1125 6 to Four Oaks! Still made it though...
4870 was my 6 to Four Oaks, arriving at 1150, where I quickly purchased a ticket to Lichfield City. The 12:00 service to Lichfield Trent Valley via Lichfield City came in, and was 323203, a score, arriving at Lichfield City at 1215.
After a brief walk around the city, I returned to Lichfield City to get the 13:05 service to Redditch & Birmingham New Street, which was 323215 & 323219, 215 being a score, 219 a dud, arriving back into Birmingham at 1330.
Because of the sunny weather (not summat we in Birmingham are used to!), I* decided to go spotting, only to realise my camera is awful in bright sunlight! Back to bus spotting! After an hour, I went to wait at the Children's Hospital for the 14:38 997 to Walsall, but not after getting a photo of 4455 in its new 97 branding!
6732 (SN15 LDZ) was my 997, a score, back to Walsall, arriving back into Walsall at 1535. At Walsall, I caught the 15:50 41 back home, which was 2268 (SK52 MLE), or the back breaker as I call it!
Not a bad day, 3 scores, all Wednesfield 22xx MPDs spotted now, and all caught shy of one!
Anyway, back to my trip last Sunday...

2268, can't think what that is off the top of my head, but it doesn't sound like a fun journey! Walsall to Four Oaks by bus is a good idea, I doubt I'll ever need to do it but I'm imprinting such an idea into memory. One day the Starships will be replaced and I'll be after the new order! OK so I've got to imprint the bus into memory for many years yet, but hey ho!
Sundays are rubbish for bashing almost everywhere, although Manchester can be decent enough, as I believe I demonstrated in my trip report on Metrolink last month. Of course, London is a haven for Sunday bashing, better there than anywhere else on Sundays!

Now being in the middle of the exam stress period (surprisingly not as bad as u expected!), I've been given some leniency with where I can go, in the South/Eastern directions...
A plan that looks anything like what you intended it to, is no fun at all, I say, and this was definitely not what I intended!
I set of at 0620, for the 529 at 0629, which was 4602, getting me into Wolverhampton by 0645, where I made for the Rail Station. My train to New Street was 390122 on 1B05 (0705 to London Euston), getting me there by 0725. I walked leisurely up to Moor St to meet up with a mate, where we boarded 6713 on the 957 to Solihull Stn, arriving at 0813. At Solihull, we legged it for the 0815 82 to Solihull (Citaro Thrash!!) which arrived in Coventry at 0900.
A brief interlude of spotting and getting food passed, and we boarded 2153 on the 9A to University Hospital, arriving at 0945. Another long (and extremely boring!) interlude passed until my X6 at 1035, which was Travel deCourcey 574, a 62 plate OC500/MCV eVolution 2, arriving into Leicester St Margarets a bit late, only to find my X3 pulling out for Market Harborough! A few expletives later, and a better plan was formed...
I boarded 4748 on the 127 to Loughborough, which is a decent run (if you fancy a numb backside!), arriving into Loughborough at 1227, where I promptly raced for the train station, in a vain attempt to make the 1240 to Leicester, which went out while I was trying to get a ticket, because of someone taking an eternity on the ticket machine! I gave up and went to the ticket office to purchase a ticket to Beeston, where I could connect to a service to Leicester.
One ticket, and a short jog to Platform 3, 156497 pulled in on the 1248 to Newark Castle Via Nottingham, which I boarded for Beeston. Arriving into Beeston at 1304, I legged it to get a ticket back to Birmingham New St, and raced for Platform 2, with time to spare for the 1311 to London St Pancras via Leicester, which was formed of 222015, arriving in Leicester at 1333.
I decided to see what would turn up for spotting, 16 plate Streetdecks galore, but nothing else really, so I hopped on 5002 (my first Arriva bendi, and only my 4th ever bendi, I think?) on the 80 to Haymarket, where I got off to see the new bus station, which is impressive. I raced to board a 31A to the Rail Station, which was Sapphire 4004, arriving back at the station at 1401.
I made haste for the platform to board the 1418 to Birmingham New St, which was a fairly quiet 170111. An uneventful trip later, I arrived back in Brum at 1512, where I went for the 1525 Arriva Trains Wales service to Wolverhampton, which was 158822+158841 (both duds), arriving back in Wolves for 1542, where I ran like a mad man for the 1545 40 home to get my phone charger! Which was 4309, arriving at 1602. After a brief rest, I proceeded to go to visit a family member, which meant enduring 862 on the 28 for the short journey there, and having a decent journey back, on the form of 4263 on the 41, which finished my exploration of Leicestershire!

Having had only one spare day this week, today, to be precise, I decided to make good use of it, so Northern bashing it was then....
4597 provided my 529 to Wolverhampton at 0758, arriving at 0813, which preceded a rapid sprint to Wolverhampton Station, to get my ticket to Manchester, and get the 0818 CrossCountry service to Manchester Piccadilly, which I did. 220011 pulled in to provide the 0818 to Manchester (score 1).
Arriving in Manchester only 6 minutes behind my earlier plan (impressive, given my earlier plan had me leaving home an hour and a bit earlier!), I went and bought my South Pennines and Lancashire Day Rangers, and made haste for the Pacer sat on Platform 1, which was 142045, en route for Sheffield via the Hope Valley, which I boarded for Reddish North, arriving at 0957.
At Reddish North, I went up to the road above and boarded 19478 (MX58 UTU) on the 203 to Piccadilly, which got me back at 1023. A brief sprint to Piccadilly, and I was on board 158813+158862 to Oxford Road, arriving at 1040. I waited and boarded a very full 156460+156440 to Salford Crescent, where I changed for 142034 on the 1100 to Manchester Victoria, arriving at 1106.
At Victoria, I spotted what I thought was a 153, and went to over to investigate, in fact it was a 155, much to my delight, 155342, on the 1116 to Leeds, which I caught to Rochdale, arriving at 1131. My traction back was 142068, making my 10th consecutive score of the day! I legged it for the (late) 1203 to Clitheroe, which was 150225+153324 (making 12 scores!). I got off at Salford Crescent, and waited for the 1226 to Manchester Airport, which was 150145. A very uncomfortable journey later, I disembarked at Piccadilly, where I went for the 1249 to Buxton which was 150132, however, I would be getting off at Levenshulme. At Levenshulme, I was able to photo 323235 on a service for Crewe, 220010 en route for the South West & 175007 on its way to Piccadilly.
323239 provided my train back to Piccadilly, where I went for food, and to do some bus spotting. Over to Victoria, it was, so I caught 49921 on the Metroshuttle, arriving at Victoria at 1422. Having done some spotting, I walked back (stupid decision in retrospect!) and god did I regret it! Boiling hot weather, and an up hill walk, Urgh. At Piccadilly, I went for the 1507 CrossCountry service to Bristol Temple Meads, which was 220025.
Upon arrival back into Wolverhampton, I proceeded to the Bus Station to get the 529 to Willenhall, which was 4316 (a score!), arriving at 1635, where I raced for the 41, only to miss it. Luckily, the 28 was right behind, and was the last Trident at Wolverhampton that I needed to clear, 4536, which I caught home.
19 vehicles out of 20 definitely isn't bad going! Especially for me!

I decided that i was going to do London, and try to clear some some of Abellio Greater Anglia's fleet, which I did, to an extent...
My original plan had entailed being in the first 529 at 0507, then 1B02 to Birmingham New St at 0545, and a Chiltern service at 0649, but, having realised sleep is sometimes a priority, I didn't actually wake up till 0730! Getting ready and dashing for the 40 at 0819, which was 4300 (ST02 MZV), arriving at Wolverhampton at 0838. At Wolverhampton, I purchased a ticket to Northampton, and boarded 323215 (a dud) to New Street, arriving at 0915. I preceeded to Platform 1, where I got 221106+221142 to Coventry, arriving at 0956, in time for the 1000 LM service to Euston, via Northampton, formed of 350112+350121, two scores.
At Northampton, that service has 15 minutes waiting, so I went and purchased a ticket & travelcard to continue onwards to Euston, where I finally arrived at 1146!
At Euston, I went and caught a Northern line service to Kings Cross St Pancras, and promptly got lost looking for the Thameslink platforms! After a pointer in the right direction, I reached Platform A, and boarded 319384+319458 to City Thameslink, which was basically deserted! At City Thameslink, I boarded 319214 on a Luton bound service, where I got off at Farringdon, and boarded a Circle line service to Liverpool Street.
At Liverpool Street, I went and boarded 321345+321428 on the 1248 to Braintree, with me leaving at Stratford, and boarding 321341+321427 back to Liverpool Street. At Liverpool Street, I boarded another Circle line service to get me to Moorgate, where I boarded a Northern line service to Kings Cross St Pancras, for a photo with the famous Platform 9 3/4 sign, which was busy as ever. So I left, and boarded WVN10 (LK59 FEH) on the 476 to Euston Bus Station, arriving at 1342. I legged it for the 1349 LM service to Birmingham New Street, where I would get off at Coventry, which was 350124+350116, two duds. Arriving at Coventry at 1529, I waited for a late running 1542 Virgin service to Edinburgh, via Wolverhampton, which was the former Penguinlino, 390013, a dud, but one I needed in its current state. Arriving at Wolverhampton at 1637, I went for the 40 at 1644, which was 4127 (Y718 TOH), to get me home.
12 scores overall, isn't too bad, but not as many as I'd have liked!
