I thought that all accidents had to be investigated by the RAIB for example of preserved lines so why is this any different?

Private infrastructure. I think the only time the RAIB investigate accidents on private infrastructure is when there is an injury or worse

444026 63876 according to the email i got

Yep Verifiey that. 444026 London end Drivers side Cabside scrunched. It was at Northam this morning in the sun / cloud as my train wnet by. No I didnt have the camera to hand... I was too busy getting used to reclining seats in 1st class (dont ask), ANd when I went past this afternoon it had been moved inside.

Its being deilivered to Bournemouth possibly Monday for removal by road to Kilmarnock ( or where ever it is ) for repairs.

Bomo staff should be used to it by now they have had a bit of practice!!!

New cab fabrication fitted to 450 and possibly 444. The collision forced 444026 into 450117 although there is no evidence to suggest that 450117 is damaged, and a consatina effect with about 2 other Desiros, Superfical Bogie damage is visible on the front bogies of both units. 450046's cab has been split and the insides are visible >YUK< . From what I saw off 444026 this morning side damage to the drivers cab is not as bad as the 450's. damage to the Windscreen as well. Bournemouth is a Desiro bits park at the moment with vairous units and coaches left around the place.

AFAIK its all lines however there are fairly strict criteria on what RAIB will and wont investigate

"The RAIB must by law investigate all rail accidents involving a derailment or collision which result in, or could result in:

* The death of at least one person;
* Serious injury to five or more people; or
* Extensive damage to rolling stock, the infra-structure or the environment.

The RAIB may also investigate other incidents which have implications for railway safety, including those which under slightly different circumstances may have led to an accident."

Now how do you define "extensive"?

The 444 was overhanging off the siding but the bogies were in the siding and as such the points weren't showing as occupied. Bring 450 046 alongside and smash.

Pheww not 444 024 then , There isnt that much desiro stuff at Bournemouth is there? seeing as the 444 042 & 013 hybrid took its stock back into service, only the 4 that remain from 013 i'd imagine?

No its only a driving end from 444042, the rest of the hybrid unit is 444013.

Currently at Bournemouth:-
444042 - 3 coaches
450046 - 3 coaches
444011 - I beleive out of site
444026 is planned to be there Monday, for the Damaged driving end to be roaded to Kilmarnock.

By that sense - SWT will have at least 4 444s out of service at any one time. Maintenance on all vehicles including exams cannot be done overnight, so therefore with now 42 usable units - and one on exam the maximum peak requirement for units has to be 41. Possibly 40.

Pompey won't be happy.
