Just a quick question - both Wimbledon and Richmond have been able to issue annual Travelcards on Oyster for some time, but does anyone know for sure whether any of the other South West Trains stations can do this now? I'd particularly like to know if Waterloo offers this service. Thanks.

No - you have to make the trip downstairs to get your Travelcard. If you want your 6 free tickets, you need to foray into the leafy suburbs of south west London.

Thanks RJ, thought as much. Another year, another schlep across town it is, then...

As above - No they can't. Richmond & Wimbledon are regarded as Underground stations for ticketing purposes. I know a nice island in the leafy suburbs ;)

So at Waterloo one would have to head down to the TFL ticket offices?

Yes, and would not get any of the bonuses SWT provides to its annual ticket holders.

Chiltern offers an even more lucrative bonus if you buy a ticket costing over £1,500, and Marylebone has full Oyster facilities.

Does this thread suggest that you get advantages if one buys a zone 1-3 annual travelcard through SWT rather than TFL?

SWT give 6 free return tickets to those buying annual seasons at their stations, provided the season is valid on their trains (IIRC). Chiltern offer free weekend travel on all their services under similar conditions, when the season is worth £1500 or more.

Obviously, which of these benefits is more worthwhile will depend on what journeys one will be making...
