That advert where the man stares in awe at his car lifting into the air, and it's then revealed it's being hoisted by crane onto the back of a truck. Why would that use a crane? The truck would come with it's own winch surely?
you are overthinking the purpose of the advert.

I see thar Currys are keeping up their reputation for "barmpot" adverts as in the one I saw last night featured a supposed customer mega-breath that caused absolute chaos in the store, even to causing a washing machine to move with some speed towards the entrance and would have been dangerous to any customers unfortunate to be in its way. No sign of the bearded lady to help when needed.

The BBC's own advert seems to think we should plan our days around their local weather forecasts on their website which they claim are regularly updatd.. At 0600 this morning, I logged on to their local forecast for our local town area today which said that from 0800 onwards, there would be thunderstorms, rain and strong winds for the first part of the day. Since 0800, the weather has been dry with strong sunshine and no thunderstorms.

UPDATE...The very pleasant sunny and dry weather is still continuing and it is now 14.30. How can they get it so wrong allowing for the fact they claim the information is updated?

In April 2020 the then Tory Health Secretary announced a blanket ban on "junk food" advertising on television before the 21:00 watershed: a simple, straightforward initiative to combat the UK's dreadful diet. Five years later we are still being exhorted during every ad-break to eat unhealthy food. The current Health Secretary has set a target date of 1 October 2025 for implementation. We'll see if that is deferred yet again. So much for "government by announcement" and a feeling of helplessness, that nothing ever gets done!

The Dell computer advert with the tree on the railway line. It suggests that Dell produces some sort of onboard remote obstacle detection system that alerts people to remove a tree before the train hits it.

The Andrex advert which states that 76% of school children hold it in if they need a poo at school - seems to suggest that the reason for doing so is that schools don't supply Andrex toilet roll...

My son tells me that the reason is more likely to be that school toilets are - his words - "absolutely disgusting!" It's certainly not embarrassment although the adverts do their best to make us think that as being the reason.

You are probably correct they don't supply Andrex roll - or any proper roll for that matter... if the paper hasn't run out or been removed as a prank then it's likely to be those silly little dispensers that get jammed and only supply half sized thin ply sheets anyway... ( or the large format roll dispensers that never tear off properly ); just like at a railway station.

They seem to have gone down the same route of those many fly on the wall type programmes which make it sound/look like the removal of obstacles from the line are done at the last second as the train speeds towards it. In reality that train is being delayed whilst they attend to the tree. They need to show bored passengers on an idle train or even waiting at a station as work crew remove said tree.

Also no way is a train going that fast over a trestle type bridge.

I know this is a rail forum, but my absolute most hated advert is the national rail advert with that song(I believe it's called Xanadu). The visual advert is fine, the song just grates when the TV is in the background and that horrible noise starts emanating from it.

I hate the LNER advert with the Muppet dancing around and walking on the carriage ceilings. Encouraging noisy and antisocial activity. Against the NRCoT, surely?

Not a TV as such but the current banner advert for some dodgy advert infested 'news' site with various 'this celebrity bikini photos leaves nothing to imagination'. When no doubt if anybody is foolish to click the website it will be full of rubbish photos as you would get on a Daily Wail style 'celebrity on a beach' post

And unlike some adverts there is no way to kill it other than going down the route of installing adblock again.

This particular, much repeated, TV advert is also now starting to annoy me, big time. Herr Klopp not so much, but whomever it is that's playing the rude and arrogant 'customer' who's stood at the hotel reception desk; his character really is grinding my gears.
Going back to the much-derided Trivago advert, if said 'customer' is supposedly paying £190, which is stated to be 10% off, does that mean his pre-discount room rate was exactly £211.11?

Is it not the case that hotels can charge different daily prices subject to the grade standard of the room that has been occupied?

That ad with the dancers listing the various ailments the product can cure has somehow become stuck in my head as an earworm. Especially the last word, which is;

diarrhoea-uh-huh

Thanks a lot Pepto Bismol!

This is one advert where I reach for the remote to mute it faster than the speed of light. Hopefully I get to it before 'diarrhoea-uh-huh' (the advert not me).

The "My Claim" TV advert seems to have enthusiastic people who all take delight in telling they have lodged their claim. What is not stated is a company executive stating how long it will take to reach claim resolution statuus and the percentage the company will take when the claim is settled.

Quite a few years ago, a similar type of advert was broadcast and I wonder what the time period was for claim resolution.

I was rather disgusted by a Harpic TV advert that expects people to put their hands into the toilet bowl in order to press an item onto the bowl surface.

Cant believe that the Lynx Lower Body Spray advert isn't attracting complaints, sniffing of strangers nether regions isn't something I would expect to see on TV

Could there be an offence in law that would cover what is shown in the advert?
only if the 'sniffees' decided to register a complaint. However, no intelligent adult is going to replicate the behaviour and Lynx are probably grateful for the name awareness that this thread has given them. ;)

There is a similar one for Lenor showing a salesman taking great pleasure in sniffing another mans foot whilst measuring him for shoes.

Not on tv but online I keep seeing adverts for hotels.com which feature a dancing bell and is accompanied with a stupid jingle as follows-
“He’s a bell, he’s a boy- he’s Bellboy!”
Bellboy’s smugness just grinds my gears and I want to smash him into smithereens<(
I can think of another word starting with “Bell” to describe that abomination.
