The latest Persil advert. The advert itself is ok,it’s the fact that at one point the mother and child’s faces appear to have been digitally altered to achieve the director’s desired effect.

If I have to watch the lady with the big eyebrows jumping up and down on her Simba mattress again, I will go potty. Sadly it signals the last of the ads when you are fast forwarding through a ch 5 recording, so you end up seeing it.

I am not sure which fragrance or perfume advert it is, but it has an American woman singing about "In the siddy, laid ad nide"...whatever that is supposed to mean.. <(
Looks a bit like something from one of the Celtic languages -- "siddy" -- perhaps to do with the Sidhe or "Shee" -- the fairy folk ...

Not sure whether both posters here are being seriouis here so taking a chance, but is it "in the city, late at night", spoken in an American accent?

Those JML mail-order adverts on Drama channel that feature some guy gabbling on and on .... and on ......
I can go into the kitchen, make a cuppa tea, come back, and the advert's still going round in a seemingly endless loop ....

The latest KFC advert which features lots people doing stupid dancing. The only reference to KFC is a chicken which appears and then the initials at the end. At least when they said it was finger licking’ good they made it sound tempting. In this advert it suggests that upon eating it you start dancing like one of Michael Jackson’s zombies from Thriller!

The admen/adwomen/adother will say that if you remember the advert it’s done its job. I’d say that if you buy the product it advertises it’s done its job. No way would that advert lead me to buying a KFC. It’s simply stupid.

The recent overused ITV advert pushing their postmasters drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office pulled double duty by persuading me not to watch the programme and put me off listening to that bloody Birdy song for the rest of my days.

The latest round of Domino’s adverts have really driven me up the wall, both the Price Slice and the £4 Lunch.

In both adverts, the main female narrator has the most annoying voice, which was a very patronising Essex-y tone. I also have a gripe with the Price Slice ads as the narrator constantly refer the prices as Quid rather than Pounds as a more professional agency would put it. The prices themselves don’t make much of a difference as Domino’s overcharge their pizzas anyway.

Then there’s the latest £4 lunch advert, which is an insult to call it a lunch. Either a greasy wrap made with the excess supplies of pizza toppings, a miniature pizza, or a handful of chicken and chips alongside a cookie. For £4 I could walk into a shop and buy a sandwich, crisps and a drink and expect better value for money. So much for Price Slicing. The actors giving ‘high-fours’ make me cringe too.

For me the Compare The Market meerkat promotion has had its day. Introducing the wombat character has not saved it,indeed it has become more annoying.

They're not even advertising the insurance company any more are they? It's something else using them now? I don't recall seeing any mention of insurance in their recent adverts at any rate...?

They still do insurance, it’s the same company. They have branched out into comparing utilities and other financial products such as savings accounts. I expect it wouldn’t be a very slick advert if they enumerated everything they offer.

Compare the Market has been a general comparison site for ages. I've used its services on quite a few occasions over the years, as well as those of other comparison sites such as Uswitch, confused.com, etc. I was able to get a three-year electricity fix before prices went sky-high, so it did its job.

I got so annoyed with that meerkat campaign many years ago that I bought a copy of "101 uses for a Dead Meerkat"!
Absolutely -- feel that meerkats are essentially very sweet creatures; but if anything could put me off them ...

The Dove advert featuring closeups of female armpits. Just why? You don't see closeups of human backsides being used to advertise toilet roll.

Many years ago, pre-internet, I saw a TV advert for a tampon brand that used glass tubes and blue ink to show how well it stuck to the sides compared with "brand x" tampon which slid out easily. A creepy looking bloke in a white coat was doing the demo! It was a massive cringe and I never saw it again. I think every copy of that TV advert was destroyed!

I have just seen a Lucozade T V advert where a male voice saying like "I see you" over again amongst garbled words I could not make head nor tail of, then a female voice in the background also added to the gibberish. What ezactly are the words supposed to imply? There was nothing about the product being advertised as far as I could make out.

It's to help you remeber the brand, which clearly worked with you.

In that case, it did absolutely nothing to persuade me to drink the stuff, looking at the antics of the extras used in the filming that are supposed to drink it.

Wrong type of remembrance.,
That doesn't matter, it motivated you to post the name of the product on an internationally available social media site with over 76,000 active members. That sounds like pretty good value publicity for buying a (dubious to my mind) product for energy supplementation.

To make a comparison, if a Labour MP makes scathing comments in the national media about a Conservative Party project, does that also make good value publicity for the Conservative Party project?

There is no camparison, because politics is all about the words and actions of the messenger. In the case of a drink product, it is all about awareness of it. Of course there will be a few with quite limited intellingence that can't discriminate between the ad style and the product itself, but it would be rare* for it to affect actual sales.

* It does occasionallly happen, you may remember in the '60s the advert for Strand cigarettes, the meaage was "you're never alone with a Strand" spoken over the image of a lone person at night smoking. The response was that most smokers would like more friends than just their cigarette!

That being said, it would apply to every single posting of complaint about adverts that is made upon this thread.
