Helps you arrive awesome.

"Travelling awesome" would be even better. The only way you "arrive awesome" is knowing you are getting off the big steaming pile of manure that is a Pendolino...

Out of interest, what is the difference in traveling experience between a Voyager and a Pendolino, and what is it about Voyagers that makes them undesirable?

I wouldn't go there if I were you ;)

Please, for the sake of all that is holy, no...

I did hesitate a little before posting my comment earlier in the thread, for fear of possibly causing yet another debate about whether 220/221s are liked or disliked by fellow forum members.

They are both just as bad as each other! Maybe they announce "Pendolino" and "Voyager" trains so passengers can avoid them!

On the subject of these announcements i really dont think that any passengers other than enthusiasts are going to know or understand what a Pendolino or Voyager is so i imagine that these announcements could actually confuse some people.

Most useful thing for VTWC doing it. Is so you know if it is a 9 or 11 Coach Pendo really.

Also VTWC do it when it is a double length Voyager as well.

In my case, knowing that the next train is an HST rather than a Voyager lowers my stress levels, because it means it's less likely that I will have to compete with the other people on the sometimes crowded platform for a seat.

If you mention Pendolino in Germany, you probably fet a good beating by passengers. Somehow we sadly never got to grips with them. Non DB trains are usually mentioned here by abbriviation HKX, THA, or as " private operated". So in that sense, we still have the good auld British Rail days here in Germany ;)
