Announcements - Can they be slowed down a little?

Speaking too quickly is a common fault, not only in railway announcements. Messages left on my answerphone are generally spoken so quickly that I cannot write down all the essential details. (And the temperamental machine now refuses to let me replay the messages.)

In the case of last minute platform alterations, the announcement may only be generated as the train is running in. A slowing down could result in people missing their trains.

A great recorded SWT announcement i hear a lot at Winchester:

"Fast trains pass through............................................................the station, please remain behind the yellow line at all times."

And it always seem to be played just after a fast train passes through!!

Speaking of SWT...

"The next station is Clapham Junction Change here for London Victoria East Croydon London Gatwick Airport Brighton Kensington Olympia and Willesden Junction."

All punctuation is deliberately omitted.

Also, "London Gatwick Airport"? That isn't the station's name!

One of mates told me that some places you have to do announcements so if you have started late because of say tickets or the infernal recorded message which at some points is not to te correct standard you have to get them in before the train stops! else you might get reported!
