Anglia Day Trip

Hello all,
Recently got £16 in Rail vouchers from London Midland and was planning a day out. I moved to the Cambridge area seven years ago, and although I've become a regular user of the Commuter runs from Cambridge and St. Neots to London, I've never really been on the rural lines (a couple of trips to mates in Ely/Norwich and thats it).

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice day out, with a rover of some description or some single journeys. I'm looking at seeing some of the countryside and doing a bit of walking/cycling if anyone could share some good routes, maybe some nice pubs along the way. I have a 16-25 and will happily stick in abit of my own cash to make up some fares.

The Anglia day plus is a good un,with the 47's on the yarmouth drags you'll be able to get some diesel loco haulage with the duffs as well,you might be able to get it for £9.90 with the railcard if not then £15,the wherry lines are lovely to get on and off and having a mooch about.

Yeah looks good mate cheers! What times are the Yarmouth drags? I'll probably take my bike with me so I'll need to reserve it. I'm not sure when I'll do it, It'll be a weekday in June/July for sure.

Yarmouth Drags are weekend only AFAIAA.

1310 Great Yarmouth - Norwich 1344
1450 Norwich - Great Yarmouth 1528

First and last runs via Acle, the other two via Reedham.

Well worth the trip though.

If you go up the Sheringham branch there is a decent walk along the cliffs to/from West Runton (Cromer if you feel adventurous) and the North Norfolk Rly offers far more rateable engines than those operating out of Norwich most Saturdays although extra ching for that of course.
