Hope this is the right area on the forums to put this in!!

With the age of modern technology and that printed timetables are seemingly becoming things of the past its becoming harder to get train timetable information.
TOC websites seem to think people want convenience and offer point to point personal timetables and squirrel the full timetables away on the website.
Unfortunately the booking apps that I've tried including train pal and national rail and even the dreaded trainline also hide travel information.

Tomorrow. I'm travelling down to Warminster for Imberbus and it's not an area I usually travel in. So for me it's quite frustrating that when trying to get travel info on any app it just tells me that the train from Waterloo leaves at a certain time and gets to Salisbury at a certain time where I change trains. And you can look at the calling points along the way.

This is great but I surely can't be the only one that would like to know the actual final destination of the train but the apps I've tried don't tell you this information.

I am quite old school in that I would want to go to Waterloo and look for the Exeter train at 0710 and see it calls at Salisbury. It is also a double check that you're on the right train.

Are there any apps that actually give this information on android as otherwise it just seems that every train conveniently finishes at the station you're going to....

What I do is to go to https://www.opentraintimes.com/ and find the train and then open the details on it in my web browser on the phone. Once the journey starts I can refresh the page to get updated actual timings and an idea of how late it might be running. No need for a specific app.

The National Rail App tells you the destination of trains. Today I have used it for trains between Waterloo East and London Bridge, and it always told me the destination, eg Hayes, Dartford. Again I used for trains from Waterloo to Basingstoke, and it told me the final destination eg, Bournemouth, Exeter etc

As for timetables, why not just load them all onto your phone? The electronic National Rail Timetable is less than 80Mb, so will fit on any modern smartphone.

After reading this I reinstalled national rail and now it does show the destination of trains. I must have had an old version..
Downloading the timetable is a good idea. Didn't realise that was possible .

TheTrainLine app is good for this. You can look up any train and see every stop before and after where you get on and off with platform numbers

Do not buy any tickets whilst on there though
