Hi all!

Irritatingly, the national rail app has been 'updated' and now when using the journey planner it makes you 'pick' an outward journey before it shows returns.

I find this to be a pain as quite often, my outward train is influenced by when the returns are! So, is there an app out there that still shows both legs of the journey on one screen?

thanks!

I don't know one that does, but Trainline and all derivatives are set up so if you tap any outward you can look at the returns and then with one tap go back and select an outward, which doesn't seem much effort.

The new NRE app is dire, I just use Trainline for information now, you don't have to pay them anything if you don't buy tickets through them and it is a very good app. Or if buying for same day travel no fee applies either.

It may be interesting for them to discover how many people abandon their app after this bizarre update. I am one. Perhaps that is their intention - to make the app such a mess that their existing userbase abandons it so they can justify no longer needing to fund it? I haven't found an alternative app that was as good as the old one, but today I switched to an alternative that comes quite close.

I find the XC app one of the better ones to use, it's clean and simple to use.

The new NRE does that too mind you.

That still needs you to put in a destination. I don't know where I'm going until I can see what trains there are
Isn't that how every single journey planner app or website works though?

The National Rail app brings up all departures from a station. The insertion of a destination station is optional. Its not a journey planner I'm after. I plan my own journeys. I want live departures

What did you switch to?
