St Helena or Ascension might be better than Rockall
Failing which, South Georgia?
Yes I agree, somewhere already inhabited which doesn't incur any additional cost to send provisions!

If he were detained at His Majesty's pleasure we would have to pick up the bill, and I absolutely don't want any further public (or crown) expense wasted on the parasite...

I doubt if it will even come to court, it will be judged as not in the public interest to proceed, Andrew Mountbatten- Windsor will quietly go into exile, in return for not being tried, the pressure will be, that the Crown, could always decide to change its mind, should he not agree.
The monarchy is in a pretty bad place due to Andrew and I suspect that any public tolerance for a royal-centric fudge has evaporated. Any treatment that differs to what a commoner would get right now will not help the monarchy.

Give him a Naval position somewhere. How about Captain of the Woolwich Ferry.

I find today’s episode of the nations ‘Andrew’ perma-rage amusing with people (rightly) getting uptight about taxpayer funded massages. Given that the entire family has always been subsidised by the UK taxpayers directly or indirectly to ensure that their every whim is met by flunkeys, the military or the police, there’s a whole herd of elephants in the room.

Yes and no. Much of the day-to-day running costs of the royals comes from the Sovereign Grant which isn't, strictly speaking, 'taxpayer funded' since the majority of it is income from the royal estates that is passed to the Treasury and then a portion is given back to the Monarch.

This is in contrast to the massages which, as I understand it, came out of the DfT budget and so would largely have been taxpayer funds.

Having worked for the Business Department, the comment from retired Civil Servants, that they wished to block payments for inappropriate expenses, But being overruled by senior colleagues, does not surprise me at all.

Someone has actually taken "Hang it in the Louvre!" literally:

Activists have hung a photo in the Louvre museum in Paris of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being driven from a police station after his arrest.

The British political campaign group Everyone Hates Elon fixed the photo, which shows the former prince slouched in the backseat of a Range Rover, on a wall of the Paris gallery on Sunday.

The photo was taken by the Reuters photographer Phil Noble after Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on Thursday at the Sandringham estate on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He later spent 11 hours in police custody at Aylsham police station in Norfolk.

Affixed to the wall under the frame is a card that reads: “He’s Sweating Now” with 2026 below.

Everyone Hates Elon claims to target “billionaires and their politician mates” via provocative stunts, which have previously included posters in London featuring photos of Manchester United footballers and stating “immigration has done more for this city than billionaire tax dodgers ever have”, after comments by the club’s largest single shareholder, Jim Ratcliffe, about the UK being “colonised” by immigrants.

Activists from the group also unveiled a huge sign in Venice’s St Mark’s Square at the time of Jeff Bezos’s wedding in the city, stating “if you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax”.

The former Duke of York was arrested on Thursday, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He is facing allegations he sent confidential government information to the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while working as a trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. Emails released by the US Department of Justice in January appear to show him sharing reports of official visits.

Mountbatten-Windsor could not be contacted for comment but has in the past denied wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. His ties to the late disgraced financier forced him to step down from his royal duties and he was stripped of his royal patronages in January 2022.

Police searches of Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home on the Windsor estate in Berkshire started on Thursday and were expected to be completed on Monday.

There have been calls for Mountbatten-Windsor, who remains eighth in line to the throne, to be dropped from the line of succession.

Speaking on behalf of the government on Sunday, the education secretary, Bridget Phillipson, did not rule out having a judge-led inquiry into Andrew’s links with Epstein.

If he is stripped from these last two roles and he is found to be innocent of everything and it's a frame up, there will be a lot of brown stuff flying about

He might be found innocent in the eyes of the law, but will be forever condemned by his undoubted conduct and friendships. There is no way back for him, ever.

(The brown stuff flying about will be teddy bear fur.....)

Without naming names, Clearly the networks that Epstein wove will be a who's who of the rich, and famous, and the question on everyone's lips will be, Why? why did you, allow yourself to become part of this? even if you avoided his more sordid activities, everyone, is going to be guilty by association

Today's debate in Parliament is a light in the dark. Stripped if his titles, and thus the protection afford to the Roysls in Parliament, the Lib Dems have managed to secure a debate on Andrew. Sir Ed Davey has used his opening speech to criticise Parliamentary rules on not criticising the monarchy. Let's hope that gains traction. Disappointing to hear the Speaker commented though remind all the monarch cannot be critised during the debate.

And he complained about the fact that for too long MPs were not able to criticise members of the royal family in the Commons. He said he came across this in 2011 when he took part in a debate on Andrew. (See 8.38am.) He said that Paul Flynn wanted to criticise Andrew, but was not allowed to.

Is it fully known what was contained in the sealed secret document that is referred to in the thread title and if so, will the contents reveal much that will aid the current matters of investigation.

The Department of Justice have managed to muddy the waters somewhat by not releasing everything at the same time. So no, there’s more to come out, although we don’t know how much of the supposed three million (is that correct?) extra articles of information that haven’t been released contain anything related Andrew.

I think this’ll be rumbling on for quite some time yet though.

As more people start to get the knock at the door, in this country, rather than the US, and they realise privilege isn't going to help them, the pressure will build up and the Dam will break and they will be falling over themselves to implicate others,

the thought process being, "I'm not going down for that smug ******to get away with what he did," Especially if it happened in the UK,

in the US, if republicans lose both houses, then so goes the protection, the Files will then be opened up for everyone to see, and once the republicans are out of power, so a new administration, willl be requesting extradition of the cases, from here in the UK.

But how many current senior Democrats? Presumably far fewer than the number of current prominent Republicans?
Certainly the rich and powerful of the business world appear to have aligned themselves with the current Republican party.

Indeed.

I wonder if the current Democrat leadership are thinking "if we win the midterms, let's get everything out in the open, there may be a limited amount of trouble for people on our side, but (a) its none of us in the current leadership and (b) there are loads of Republicans and Republican-aligned non-politicians implicated".

It doesn't matter. The Democrats aren't going to throw the Clintons under the bus, for example. The whole affair is extremely stinky and permeates all areas of the US political establishment.

Just doing the same as the former House Of York (back on topic!) in following the money, a trait inherited by it’s junior members judging by their public displays of grovelling to Brian.

Hence why relatively few people believe Epstein killed himself (and the only prominent conspiracy theory I fully believe); he knew far too much to remain alive once he was locked up and likely to sing like a canary.

They align with whoever is in power. There were plenty of big businesses and their leaders who aligned with Biden or Obama when they were president.
