Be afraid, be very afraid, the biggest threat to national Security in my opinion at the moment isn't Terrorism, China or any other thing except the re-emergence of Russia as the biggest threat to the west. The past few days and months have so reminded me so much of what i remember about the old USSR when i was a child, except this time they really do have us by the short an curlys, as they now supply our a lot of our oil and the majority of our gas. I think a major investment in home defence is needed.

All of this harks back to the days when it wasnt Russia but the Soviet Union, combat patrols by bombers in UK airspace, incursions into neighbouring territory and political posturing by the hen honchos...... not good.

I wouldn't like to go to war with Russia, we would be as annhilated as Georgia are being. They give us so much gas, and as we have seen before to Ukraine, they aren't afraid to turn it off if we don't agree with them. Both the US and RF provide details of their weapons stockpiles to the UN, and I think if there was any doubt they would slambast it out there

Russia always had fewer missiles, but vastly more warheads
Their missile design was way ahead of the Americans, with one ICBM carrying multiple warheads, as against the Americans which was just one
Equally, there was doubts about both designs capability, even assuming if 50% didn't reach their target that would still meant the Russians had hit almost every intended target, as against the Americans where it would be a vastly lower figure

More concerning is NATO expansion into Eastern Europe and the expansion of the NATO radar network, including the PAVE PAWS network

I'm guessing he means the WAH-64, utter pile of cack. Rather than just buy the AH-64 Longbow Britain decides they can make it better. Result is a **** poor avionics suite that only seems interested in locking onto the missile host aircraft (i.e. it's self). I believe it costs about 1/2 again as much as the Longbow as well.
