You can always rely on German to be very literal, Schwebebahn would indeed probably best translate to the hanging/dangling railway.

There is a hanging monorail that covers Dortmund University's campus, based on the Dusseldorf airport H-Bahn design and made by Siemens....that's on my list for next time
