Since Platform 5 at Shipley can't be lengthened. Why not move it towards Bradford on the narrow but wide enough waste land between the line and the adjacent Network Rail yard. So services don't interfere with those heading towards Leeds the existing 3rd line which used to be access into Crossley & Evans yard could be extended Northwards and straight into the existing P5, with a new turnout at the Southern end there would be no-more conflicting services than as at present. Whilst this may impact upon the entry road for this new depot, that could start from further South if needed.

The distance of the shaded box representing a platform is 140m according to Google Maps, long enough for two 3 car 331s. The crossover to the South here would also have to be relocated further South.

Does it need to be lengthened?

So how are you going to get into the new Shipley depot if you've taken the access?

Well considering it can't be lengthened which will result in the splitting of Triangle services it might be an idea to provide the ability for 6 car services on the Bradford - Skipton corridor.

You clearly haven't seen the plans for the depot. The access will be from the South but there will be a loop with a Northern turnout so after reveresing trains can head to Skipton, Ikley or Leeds. This may need to be Shortened at the Northern end, that was the point I was trying to make.

I'm not familiar with the ground (viaduct) conditions at Shipley, but there's 50m of former platform available at the northern end of the existing platform that could be used. The signal would have to be moved though. There's also space south of the existing platform (again with a signal move) if you fill in the gap between P5 and the walkway and move the cycle lockers, so you could easily get to 150m without doing any track work.

I thought the triangle services were already split, with 333s mostly running Leeds-Bradford FS and 331s everywhere else?

There's no need for 6-car trains on Skipton - Bradford services.

A asumming there isn't a need for 6 car services, why should Bradford - Skipton be reduced to shorter trains simply because there is no-need for 6 car trains.

Whilst the 333s are remaining for the time being, do you really think Northern are going to complicate their fleet by having some 4 car trains solely to operate between Bradford & Skipton ?

Quite, and if there were , SDO could be used just as on P2 which actually has 6-car trains.

You mean, separate diagrams like they do now (in theory)?

Even without SDO - how many Skipton-Bradfords require more than 3 cars anyway? The 1611 possibly from Frizinghall to Saltaire?

Hands off Shipley! :)
