I saw a bloke waiting for a bus at the Bonneville Transit Center, Las Vegas, with his pet Gecko on a lead. It was the size of a small sausage dog...

For a while Lincs Roadcar covered the Melton - Nottingham council tendered route through the Vale of Belvoir. Every week a passenger got on at Asfordby with a bicycle and got off near Saxelbye.

I was once on a bus from Bangor to Caernarfon when a guy got on with a sailing boat mast. He laid it down the aisle, paid his fare and sat down as if it was the most normal thing to do.

On a scorching hot day, back when takeaway delivery riders still used manually propelled bicycles, one stopped the Newport Transport bus I was on and asked if he could bring his bike and backpack on. He looked like he might be suffering from heatstroke and the driver let him on.

I've often wondered what would happen if you tried to flag down a bus not at a bus stop using a recently purchased bus stop flag.

Given mine had "West Maitland Street" emblazoned onto it, I would wager that might not work as well as expected!

After my sister got married and moved to East Anglia from Sheffield (early 1980's) I've had a couple of "episodes" of numerous, flat packed kitchen units in the boots of National Express coaches that she bought 'up north ' (cheap) and needed delivering to her. The inspector at Great Yarmouth (somewhere that area) looked rather bemused as they pulled their car into the bus station and we started unloading them. Never found out what Cambridge fire service thought when we did the same outside the main fire station.

All I can offer is a solar panel, new and boxed, which I took on the bus (and train) earlier this year. It was only a modestly-sized 100 watt panel but rather cumbersome nonetheless.

In the 1960's, I worked for a surveyor in Bradford (who, I think was a descendant of Scrooge). I was well down the pecking order for the office van (a Hillman Huskey) and, refusing my request, the boss would say "Can't you go on the tram?". So, a few times, me and my chainman took a bundle of 6 ranging rods and a tripod to Harden on the Hebble (route 19?) It was always an open platform decker and they wedged nicely under the stairs. I don't remember anyone, including the conductors, raising an eyebrow.
