I usually see people on HSTs who don't know how to open the door from the inside, despite every door having a sticker on it telling you how. I can see the point that people are used to automatic doors but it still begars belief how many people still stand there looking a bit silly.

Seen them try and open the doors by trying to use the handrail on the inside of the door aswell. Plus they also still try and open the door when the CDL hasnt been released, 15 or so years after CDL 1st appeared.

I was at Leeds today on a dayrover and was waiting for a TPX service on P16 when this American/Canadian couple asked me if a used this route often, I said yes, then they asked me if I knew where Coach C would be. Kindly informed them that the trains dont stay the same way round.

Mummy and her little kiddywinks on plat 6 at Nott's, feeding bread crusts to the lovely fluffy pigeons.... when suddenly a Peregrine swoops down, grabs one of the pigeons and proceeds to pluck and eat it in front of em! :)

Bill Bryson once remarked that there is a tradition that has to be observed when catching a train.

At the ticket office, you ask the clerk when the Bradford train is due. 'It's waiting on platform 3'

So you go to platform 3, which has a display showing that the train due to depart in two minutes is for Bradford. There is a train. And there is a station employee. And there is someone asking him 'Is this the Bradford train?'. 'Yes', he replies.

Even though you have just heard this, you ask him 'Is this the Bradford train?'. 'Yes' he replies, again.
You look at the train and point at it. 'This one?' you ask. 'Yes', he confirms.

So you get on the train. But before you sit down, you ask the carriage at large 'Is this the Bradford train?' and someone will say 'Yes'.

Then someone will get up and grab their bag because they want the Ilkley train not the Bradford train. Hopefully, this person has left behind their newspaper and a Kit Kat

And if you're really lucky, a nice pair of sheepskin gloves. ;)

(and don't you mean the Barnstaple train? Yes, I have read the book too many times...)

How nice! Did you do this because they were American, or because you considered them stupid and inferior? Or both?

Whether they were stupid or not - and I'd guess not, just confused in a different country - you on the other hand behaved in a manner both rude and ignorant.

It's sometimes too easy to do when something is blatantly obvious, the thing is nine times out of ten is, it's not obvious to the person asking the question, you have to be careful, some people can take it as a joke, some people don't. I only tend to do things like that if they've asked me a dozen times already. One I hate is when they ask you a question, you answer, then they come back with "oh but your colleague said..." so why the hell are you asking me???
with regard to americans, why is it the restroom? I personally don't go to the toilet for a rest ???

Not sure if I'm allowed to nominate myself, but as a "XC Trolley Dolley" came down my carriage, he asked me if I'd like any refreshments, to which I replied, complete with wink "Can you give me a twirl?" ;)
