Amtrak 'Viewliner' Roomette - have I got this right....

Those in the know probably know what's coming...

But planning a couple of long distance US rail trips with my gf. One on a double deck Superliner Roomette trip of which I've done before. The other in a 'Viewliner roomette'. Seriously...are you expected to do your business in front of your partner? And in a country that apparently has an obsession with hygiene, risk of the previous few trips having some 'splash back' onto the seats? Chances enhanced of course by some poorly maintained piece of freight owned railroad.

This trip could be a real test of any relationship....

This applies to unrefurbished Viewliner roomettes only, and there are toilets at the end of the corridor in addition to the weird ones in the roomettes.

Did Amtrak remove the bathrooms from the Viewliner train roomettes?

I read a Youtube post that the bathroom part of roomettes was removed from the Viewliner trains. Can someone confirm this or is these only new cars that have been released into the fleet that don't contain the fixtures?

The toilet situation isn’t ideal, but hardly the end of the world. You don’t have to use it and I suspect many don’t. But, it solves the issue of people inappropriately using sleeper berth sinks as urinals, as I suspect happens for reasons of convenience, and is hardly hygienic or respectful to other passengers.

If you do use the in-room set up, remember to draw the curtains.

Beyond the minor issue of enhanced toilet provision, the rooms are absolutely fine.
