An unusual incident... Fortunately there were no injuries.
http://www.railwayage.com/index.php.../amtrak-acela-breaks-apart-at-high-speed.htmlAn Amtrak Acela Express trainset on its way from Washington to Penn Station New York broke apart at high speed Tuesday on its way through Maryland.
The incident occurred [on 6 February] about 6:30 a.m. [12:30 GMT] as northbound train 2150 was moving at a reported 125 mph. A photo from the scene showed the drawbar between two cars disconnected, with only air hoses remaining intact. The cause of the drawbar separation appears to have been failure of a connecting pin bolt, a device similar to that of a coupler knuckle pin.
