An unusual incident... Fortunately there were no injuries.

An Amtrak Acela Express trainset on its way from Washington to Penn Station New York broke apart at high speed Tuesday on its way through Maryland.

The incident occurred [on 6 February] about 6:30 a.m. [12:30 GMT] as northbound train 2150 was moving at a reported 125 mph. A photo from the scene showed the drawbar between two cars disconnected, with only air hoses remaining intact. The cause of the drawbar separation appears to have been failure of a connecting pin bolt, a device similar to that of a coupler knuckle pin.
