Amlwch branch

Having spent the last week on Anglesey I stumbled across some of the old Amlwch branch so I took my boys down on the line for a little investigation. To my pleasant surprise I noticed that the track bed was still down although most of the wooden sleepers are rotten.
I understand that there are discussions afoot for potentially reopening part of the line to Llangefni.
Does anyone know any of the outcomes of such discussions and whether the full length all the way to Amlwch even if it be a preserved venture?

You'll find many of your questions answered in this Wikipedia article. In summary, The line's been mothballedsince the 90s for freight to and from the Octel chemical works in Amlwch. The whole line is complete apart from a portion of Amlwch station that was flattened when the A5025 was widened for lorries during Wylfa's construction.

The latest plan I knew of was that Gaerwen-Llangefni would be reopened as a mainline branch, with Llangefni-Amlwch offered to the Lein Amlwch preservation group. Things have gone very quiet since the Welsh Government funded a NR study into reopening (got to GRIP stage 3?) and Lein Amlwch cleared some trackbed a few years back.

I may be one of the very few on here to have 'done' the line, steam-hauled, push-pull in a non-corridor carriage, c.1964.

I may be one of the very few on here to have 'done' the line, steam-hauled, push-pull in a non-corridor carriage, c.1964.

I only managed to travel the line in the 90s, but my grandmother used the line to commute to the "County School" in Llangefni way back in the day.

I have not heard anything of recent, my guess is all WG funding for rail infrastructure reopening lines in North Wales will be on hold for years,
