Amdendents to Advance tickets - Caledonian Sleeper

I am booked on the sleeper tonight on a slightly discounted advance ticket, but due to illness I am unable to travel.

The company have a policy of not permitting any changes to advance tickets, so I have effectively lost my money. All others TOCs I am aware of would permit a change for any difference in fair plus an admin fee (usually £10).

Is there anything in legislation or TOC guidance which states they should offer this so I can appear to Caledonian?

Well, that's changed...they used to refund against £10 on all tickets.

Nothing you can refer to in writing, but have you emailed them?

I was in the very same situation as you and they gave me a goodwill refund earlier this year.

It will be down to discretion, as the Fixed Advances can not be changed as stated on their website here.

Agreed that you should speak to them. If you don't ask, you don't get.

How does this compare with any legislation/agreements with other TOCSs? Really I'm wondering why Caledonian ca get away with this policy where other TOCs cannot.
