Im just wondering if this is all Legit stuff as ive seen links of places offering PTS Courses etc and they havent been the offical stuff etc, so im wondering if this is the same or if its a proper way to gain essential skills etc to enter the industry???

Most TOCs will put all new starters through a full PTS course whether they already have one already, even qualified drivers moving from one TOC to another have to do it again.

Save your money would be my advice.

I suppose you could research the company but I wouldnt hold out much hope.

I used to work for the Jobcentre, and we used to get asked about PTS training all the time. I think you will find this training is more for those who are looking to get into the industry on the sub-contracting side of things and possibly Network Rail themselves. A lot of vacancies when advertised in the Jobcentre (while I was there at least) stated clearly that a valid and current PTS was required, even for low skill roles. I would definitely take the advice of looking into the training provider in more detail and maybe ask some pertinent questions about what the training involves and what you should be expecting to get from it in regards to employablity and potential career paths / jobs, as well as maybe asking whether they have any close relationships with employers in this sector.

The Peterborough base is in ferry meadows yard. The course is mainly aimed at p-way staff and other non TOC staff. Part of the training is doing track work, as jobs they have done here included laying the new siding in ferry meadows yard and lifting the old siding plus other bits of p-way work.
