Just got my third replacement season ticket today (magstrip failed even though I know never to keep my tickets anywhere near a mobile phone or anything else magnetic) and look what I got.

Am I going to be rich?



(And how does someone who sells tickets regularly manage to do something like this?!)

I don't think you're going to be rich - but you may have fun with a certain RPI.

He was at the station this morning funnily enough! I hope he's there when this one inevitably stops working in a few weeks and I have to show it to get out!

I asumed it was to do with the stamp? As for upside down tickets, it was easily done on APTIS if you didn't put the ticket in the machine correctly in the first place!

Are there really RPI's who moan if the text is printed upside down?

FCC have one who might - especially if it's presented by jonmorris0844 as he seems to enjoy making life difficult.

I will actually say in his defence that he's left me alone in the last couple of months. He still stares at me, and is no doubt badmouthing me to colleagues when I've gone, but he's not attempted to hassle me or start studying my tickets and photo ID in great detail.

Perhaps he was spoken to, or just realised he isn't going to get anywhere with me. I'm not a fare evader, I don't upgrade to first class (except when it's declassified), don't put feet on seats or anything else that would give him any reason to do anything more than request my ticket and photocard.

I've had tickets issued inverted in the past on rare occasions and never had any trouble using them. I even had a Travelcard once that was issued on an ordinary ticket blank!

There was also this error, but it wasn't a ticket I had:

I got it changed this evening, so I've now given it up forever - so I hope it doesn't end up at Sotheby's next week!

The lady at the counter mentioned they've had a few (her words) kangaroo tickets and then thought for a second that the new one was upside down too. They do look odd printing all the graphics/logos over a ticket that has Gold Card/Travelcard branding underneath.

In fact, along with photocards, I do wonder why nobody has ever opted to redesign the ticket stock for the more modern printing machines! The forms for getting a refund on a ticket or changing the ticket availability are even worse!

That stamp is known as an 'Inverted Jenny' and is one of the most expensive stamps in the world to buy.
