I have today received my programme for the Hants & Surrey Bristol RE Group Running Day event on Saturday 19th Julybased in Alton. Details are at bristol-re.moonfruit.com

There is another website at altonbusrally.com advertising an event on Sunday 20th July.

So my question is are there two separate events on the Saturday & Sunday?
It certainly appears that way. I am going to the Saturday event so would like some clarification please.

Is the Saturday a running day and the Sunday a static display?

Just an idea.

Yes it is two totally separate events.

The Saturday Event is based around running bus services to local pubs, where there passengers are encouraged to catch services to local pubs, get off have a drink, catch the next service onto another pub etc and the services are scheduled that way.

The Sunday is more of a 'traditional' bus rally, with static displays and services running round trips when the majority of passengers travel out and back for the whole trip.

Hope that helps.

Also, the majority of the Saturday event will be in the hands of either our or our excellent friends Bristol REs and VR Fleets (with the exception of one Leyland Atlantean) - Keeping it to just Bristol REs doesn't prove practical anymore simply due the passenger numbers that we usually get year on year, and it's nice to have some variety too!

So our Saturday is more of a running day of Bristol's, as that is what our group is largely concentrated on and about, whilst Sunday is our friends more traditional rally event with a fair amount of running services - some of ours will be out but I emphasise on some!

Oh and please ignore any date you read given to you by the Mid Hants Railway - They have misprinted the Sunday event date - It will be on the weekend of the 19-20th!

A rather enjoyable weekend was had at Alton, plenty of good buses to see and ride on and -plenty of good ales were sampled on Saturday in the pubs around Alton on Saturday.

Great weather thrown in as well on both days despite a poor forecast.

Thanks to everyone who were involved in organising the events.
