Can anyone confirm what exactly "AAA" in a route name on a season ticket means? I understand it stands for also available at, but I can't seem to find an official page defining what that means. Does it mean I can travel to/from the along permitted routes to/from the AAA location from either the origin or destination? or only to/from the origin? or only to/from the destination.

It means it's effectively a season between both of those places (Bedford and MKC) and the destination (London). However in this specific case, unless anything has changed, you certainly could use it to travel between MKC and Bedford because you're on a permitted route between MKC and London Terminals as far as Bletchley then you're on a permitted route between London Terminals and Bedford, and part journeys and break of journey are allowed on season tickets.

There are loads of these on the ex-SR especially in that area.

It has normal season ticket validity from HHE, so all intermediate stations to S Croydon. Three Bridges would be an obvious one to use.

As an example, season tickets from Haywards Heath to East Croydon and beyond are also valid to/from Ashurst (Kent), Buxted, Cowden, Crowborough, Dormans, East Grinstead, Edenbridge Town, Eridge, Hever, Lingfield or Uckfield.

I'm unsure how this longstanding validity interacts with the other defined AAA fares for these season tickets, given that validity for some of those is supposedly included on a normal season ticket.

Unfortunately, this list isn't public anywhere as far as I know.

This is only £1.30 more than the 7-day season valid only to St Neots. The 7-day Travelcard AAA Cambridge season is the exact same price as the 'St Neots Only' one. Pretty good value I would say. Huntingdon also has an AAA Cambridge season available, but the price difference there is a little higher at around £10.

The most interesting 'quirk' with the stations between Hitchin and Peterborough is that Sandy is the only one without an AAA season available. Arlesey has Letchworth, Biggleswade has Ashwell & Morden, and St Neots/Huntingdon have Cambridge, but Sandy has nothing.

It's still in the internal guidance, with the list of stations last updated in 2023.

But whether GTR intend for that or not, who knows.
