I would like some Times and Fares for Alsager or Crewe or Stoke to Skegness on Sunday 27th Dec and back on Wednesday 30th Dec please.

I know it may be a big ask as going to Skegness is on a Sunday and also with it being the day after the Big Christmas Shutdown.

There will be 3 Adults and 1 Child(we are going to Butlins) with a family railcard.

Many thanks.

Have you not tried for times www.nationalrail.co.uk ? We're all for helping out, but at least try that first. Not sure about any engineering work though, particularly a Sunday. Fares below:
Crewe-Skegness SVR total price £111.80.
Alsager the same.
Stoke on Trent total price £93.05 for SVR. Return on wed not valid until after 09.30.
I've done a journey enquiry on my Avantix and it says a very bizarre route to take, 11.49 Crewe to Nuneaton to Peterborough to Grantham to Skegness, arriving at 17.10. I wouldn't fancy that at all. The return on Wed shows 10.15 Skegness to Notts to Stockport to Crewe, arriving 15.06.

The NXEC site is only bringing up journey options which involve a bus between Derby & Nottingham on both days, so presumably the only alternative route is via Nuneaton/Leicester.
I did think about going via Stockport/nottingham but there seem to be buses from Crewe to Wilmslow all day on the sunday (& it probably isn't a permitted route) I see there are also buses in the Hope Valley around Edale, so that option is out.

There do not appear to be any Advance fares for this route.

That makes the fares easy. Off-Peak for 3 Adults and 1 Child with family railcard costs a total of £111.80 from Crewe or Alsager, £93.05 from Stoke. Travel out by any train on Sunday 27 Dec, return by any train from 0900 on Wed 30th.

Times are more difficult due to engineering work
National Rail Enquiries - Future Engineering Work said:
Sunday, 27 December 2009 (to Sunday, 3 January 2010)
Buses replace trains between Derby and Nottingham
Details of revised timetables have not been confirmed, please check back nearer the time of travel
More information is available here for passengers travelling over the Christmas and New Year holiday period

This leads to the unusual routes mentioned by mumrar.

Have you contacted Butlins? They used to offer very reasonable fares (both train and National Express) if you were staying there. Paid about £17 return from Manchester to Skegness about 5 years ago. Was only bookable direct with Butlins.

I think they only run Coach services during the Summer.
