First day today, Saturday 29th May and my journeys for the day were 1P00, (Cross Country) 06:08, Hinckley to Nuneaton (06:14) with 170398. Then 1A02, (Avanti West Coast) 06:59, Nuneaton to London Euston (08:37 +2) with 390104. (2 track railway for the bottom end of the WCML). Onto the Northern Line to Waterloo (and got my Railcard added to my Oyster without any problem, very helpful gate line staff at London Euston, on another thread there were a few thoughts on how this can be problematic sometimes)
Next up was 2H17 (South Western Railway) 09:12, London Waterloo to Shepperton (10:03) with double units 707011 and 707013. Returning on the same units as 2H26, 10:10 Shepperton to Teddington. Across the footbridge at Teddington and onto 2K19 (South Western Railway) 10:34, Teddington around the corner to Twickenham (10:42 +1) with double units 455917 + 455918. Finally for this part of the day 2U26, (South Western Railway) 10:53 Twickenham to London Waterloo (11:20 +1) with double Class 701, 701024 and 701026.
By bus to from Waterloo to Kings Cross, to board 1D14, (London North Eastern Railway),12:35, London Kings Cross to Doncaster (14:14) with 5 car Azuma 801112 (From platform 2 so I hoped to do the new tunnel from Kings Cross, but I was distracted as we left platform 2 and didn't notice. The service had been reduced from 9 to 5 coaches, so it was a bit chaotic with other passengers sorting out where to sit as the service was pretty busy).
A smart walk at Doncaster via the lifts from Platform 8 to 3B for the waiting 1J47, (Northern) 14:21 Doncaster to Sheffield (14:48) with 170472. Full from Doncaster and standing room only from Meadowhall.
From Sheffield it was heading towards home with 1C65, (East Midland Railway) 15:01 Sheffield to Leicester (16:07 4 late) with Class 222 unit, 222003. Final trip for the day was 1P22 (Cross Country) 16:18 Leicester to Hinckley (16:38), with a second ride today with this morning’s unit 170398 (170398 from this morning’s ride had continued to Birmingham New Street, then to Stansted Airport and return to Birmingham New Street and then back to Leicester for this journey).
