Middle aged me and my mate Mary are planning to travel from Zürich in Switzerland to central Austria over a 48 hour period in June, stopping off in Bregenz and Salzburg on the way. I have searched previous posts in the forum and there is some information about buying tickets in Switzerland - but it didn't really answer my questions...
So - how can I find out whether it's better to buy one through-ticket (say) Zurich - Salzburg? or two or three singles? Do the Swiss Railways or Austrian Railways websites provide this level of detail does anybody know? should I plan to buy the tickets in advance?
