I Think I saw somewhere that if you bought an ALR for 7 or 14 days you could travel the night before the start date, if you were travelling overnight on a sleeper train. eg on a night train from London to Scotland or Penzance ,
Please can tell me where I can can find this information. many thanks.

"On Sleeper services, the All Line Rail Rover must be valid on the date of arrival at your destination but need not be valid on the date of departure of a Sleeper service. The date of arrival is the first date of validity of the All Line Rail Rover."

If you are going to be using the seats then that will obviously be a good option, if booking a berth then look at both the berth supplement fare and the standalone sleeper fares as they have massively increased the supplement to the point a full standalone sleeper fare can be cheaper.
