I enjoyed reading the All change to London thread. Just changing it slightly, and let's assume the current M-F timetable, are there any two sations in the UK you can not travel between in one calendar day; therefore no sleepers.

Sorry - you can use the sleepers providing you board after 00.01.

To be clear (Sulzer25) - you can change as many times as required. Penzance to Wick is the obvious one but I think you can do that...?

Radcliffe to Huddersfield. Change at Nottingham, Chesterfield, Sheffield

Wick and Penzance
Thurso and Penzance
Georgemas Jn. and Penzance

shall I go on?

Certainly can't do those in a day; you get into Inverness far too late in the day. I'd also imagine that there's a lot in the South East (eg. Oban to Dover).

I can just about work London Waterloo to London St. Pancras if I bend the rules a bit... ;)

London Waterloo > Stafford Intl > Paris Gare du Nord > Paris Gare du l'Est > Köln Hbf > Bruxelles Midi > London St. Pancras

Theoretically doable in a day if ye cut the interchange times down to the bare minimum...But remember that the Paris RATP is impossible to navigate around, Köln Hbf is one mahoosive station, and the security line at Bruxelles has never been known for processing people quickly...

Failing that: Ye try affording an SDR on Eurostar...And no Privs, that's just cheating!:lol::razz:

You can do Penzance to Thurso in under 24 hours:

2200 Penance - London Paddington 0542 (FGW Sleeper)

0800 London Kings Cross - Edinburgh 1230 (NXEC)

1336 Edinburgh - Inverness 1707 (FSR)

1752 Inverness - Thurso 2138 (FSR)

23hrs 28mins, I challenge you...

Well if your going to be pedantic:

0020 Plymouth - London Paddington 0542 (FGW Sleeper)

And then take it from there...

Sod 24 hours! I'd be aiming to do it in 24 minutes in a 370 with a pre-cleared route, and a 50 or two between the power cars to provide traction power North of Glasgow... <D

Mr Death, those nice people with that jacket are looking for you, shall I tell them your in?:lol:
