On the subject of ALEX, there is a photo on Instagram of seven double-deck former ALEX coaches being hauled by a smart orange and grey electric. Are these going for repair/renovation, or scrap?

i was thinking of whether DSB can use Talgo+Vectron for services to Sweden/Norway. If this is the case, then TWINDEXX power cars has to be ordered to free up Vectron and additional Talgo has to be ordered.

The DSB Vectrons can't run in Sweden and Norway and there is currently no plans to change that. Services to Sweden and Norway will need a change of locomotive in Copenhagen.

Wikipedia: the Vectrons may run services to Sweden and Norway in the future, as these countries utilize same electrification as Germany.

Why would they order TWINDEXX power cars that they don’t need?! The Vectron fleet has been ordered specifically to cover the requirement for the double deck sets and the long distance Talgo sets. DSB have already doubled the Talgo fleet without needing additional locomotives by moving from top’n’tailing with two locos to using driving trailers with a single Vectron.
If DSB is to move from Top and Tail, why the first DSB Talgo was delivered without a control car?

Weren’t control cars only added when they ordered more? So they likely wouldn’t be ready yet

Yes, but they are not fitted with the necessary signalling equipment.

Because the control cars were ordered later, after a change of plan.

The control cars was ordered in spring 2023 and will be delivered at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. Initially they will be used as passive cars and in 2028 they can be used as control cars.
The control cars for DB / ICE L are also expected to be non-functioning at the beginning of service, just like the new Nightjet control cars also aren't functioning yet. The primary goal for both Talgo and Siemens is and has been to get the new coaches in service.
