Allerton TMD is being taken over by Northern they are working on it getting it ready over the nxt few months

I think the longer-term plan is to base the {new} EMU fleet there, once the NW local lines are electrified.

Northern are currently advertising for staff to work at Allerton TMD when it reopens later this year. To begin with I believe it is to be used for servicing 156s although once the wires are up it will become an EMU depot along with a depot at Guide Bridge.

Was there not quite an amount of available land near to where the redundant sidings were? Just a thought I had?
