Aldershot - Littlehampton Jan 2022

Hi Guys,

I need to attend a 3 day event in the Littlehampton area back end of January 2022.

It will be a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Need to be down there by 10am (start of event).

Looking at National Rail they are quoting £29.20 for an Anytime return. so £87.60 for the 3 days. I am unable to stay over so will have to trek back and forth.

Trainsplit comes in I think at £28.80 I think it were.

I have no knowledge when it comes to different types of tickets, but I had considered season ticket of some sort but I have no idea how to work it out, obviously I only need it for 3 days.

Can anyone help with any suggestions on what the best course of action would be.

I did cost up going down Tuesday and coming back Thursday, but with the Hotel it is only 30p cheaper. I don't mind the commute plus I wont have to organize someone to look after the Cat.

A season ticket is £136 or so, so that won't help. I think your best bet is the £29.20 Anytime Day Return.

The advantage of the Anytime Day Return is that you can use any permitted route, via Havant, Dorking, Clapham Jn or (more or less) anywhere in between. That's useful if one or other route is disrupted.

I lived in Littlehampton for many years, Aldershot is one of those destinations where its much quicker/easier to drive, its only 40 miles by road, just over an hour. The route via the hogs back and Chiddingfold is a very pleasant too through the Surrey Hills and South Downs.

ah, I'd did do Alton for the MHR a couple of times when I wanted a couple of beers. Twas a Pita by rail, I'd suggest a hotel rather than doing it 3 days in a row. Even if all the contra flow connections go well its well over 2 hours each way.
Arundel is nice and has an hourly bus 2tph and taxis to LA
