Airdrie to Manchester

Hi all, im needing help in finding the cheapest fare for 5 adults from Airdrie to Manchester on 24th February returning 26th Feb. We are looking to be leave around mid morning/ early afternoon and return around 1pm on the sunday. Having looked at the fares myself the cheapest I can get is £49 return for the Glasgow to Manchester leg of the journey. None of us have railcards. We also dont mind spending longer travelling in order to get the cheapest possible fare. Can anyone help bring this cost down any? Thanks in advance.

Is that £49 for all five of you? If so I'd buy that now as I doubt you'll find anything better than that to be honest you could then just buy Anytime Day Singles for the legs to/from Airdrie and Glasgow Central (and you can buy those on the day as well) for £3.60 (per person each way).

If that's per person I still don't think you're going to do much better than that as those fares will be advance fares which are quota controlled which means when the cheapest are gone they are gone. I have a few ideas which I'm playing around with but I'm not confident of beating that price.

If you end up splitting your journey, you might be able to get Groupsave4 travel for Scotrail.

thanks the price quoted is for each return using TPE advance. im unsure of split ticketing or if this would bring the cost down any.
