I totally understand! I worked in a supermarket last year on Christmas Eve (and still do), and even closing at 5pm was pretty horrific! I can't imagine bringing in Christmas day going up and down the train shouting "tickets, please!". The last thing you want to be doing on the 24th is work!

Yeah, it is a pain getting home, though for our 'troubles' the past few years all staff working beyond the old rundown time have been given an ex gratia payment of £100 plus transportation home, so it's not really that bad.!

Couple of interesting things to note:

• Timetable covers now display the English and Scottish Gaelic names of stations...;
• Glasgow-Stranraer has a more conveniently-timed morning service, to tie in with ferry sailings;
• There is a new midday Edinburgh and Musselburgh-Dunbar SR service;
• Dunrobin Castle station is open from March.

yeah no new timetables yet . Only managed to get new east coast and tpe ones in waverley . I always like to have a set of fsr , tpe , virgin and east coast ones .

I managed to get some of the Scotrail timetables in Queen Street for West Highland,Edinburgh/Glasgow to Inverness/Wick/Kyle of Lochalsh,Fife Circle etc although not North/South Clyde and got a Crosscountry and an East Coast although no Virgin or Transpennine or Scotrail South West!

They had old and new out at Waverley but only a few scotrail ones . Queen st is really bad for timetables they even had old nxec ones the other week.
Waverley is prob best for timetables . Usaully you have to go to a few stns to get them all!

Central and Queen Street stations are usually good for getting the new timetables but not this year!

Looks like printed timetables might well be a thing of the past and maybe not that far off in the future either going the number of people who have access to the net via their phone.

Printed timetables around just now are potential longterm collectors items.

I know the Airlines went this way , but i like a set of current timetables at hand . I dont have a printer and cant take my laptop around .

I don't think they will go that way. With the "turn-up-and-go" nature of the rail network, people like to have a hard copy of the timetable that they can keep in their pockets/briefcases/wherever. I know I do. You can't always get internet access on the go nowadays.

Although more and more people can access the internet on their phone not everyone can! And not everyone wants to! And, as you say, it';s not always possible!

For many, it is still more convenient to have a pocket sized printed timetable that they can look at, over and over again if necessary!

1. She's Labour (and, even though the Lib/Lab administration opened the line, I reckon the SNP will try to keep them out of it).
2. She doesn't have an interest in transport, as this is a devolved issue
3. I believe he's the laziest MP in Westmister at the moment, having spoken in only a few speeches and asked only a few questions since being elected.

She is busy helping her constituents with their problems and isn't a lazy MP and I believe that both MP and MSP should be invited as their constituents will be using it!

Is a shame that people think an MP's job is only on the floor of the House Of Commons. There are a lot of other things that the job entails (constituency work, correspondence, select committees, meeting with stakeholders etc).

I'm not defending the individual in question, just the assumption that all an MP's job involves is making speeches in Westminster. In fact, one of the problems with MPs is that they have all these different jobs, all of which could be full time roles (if done properly). hence the need for two houses/ two sets of things (which leads to expenses and all the problems that entails)...

Airdrie and Shotts MSP. Six months after being elected, I think she spoke once in the house and asked two written questions. I understand they don't all speak a lot: my MSP isn't all that involved in debates. But they're usually a lot more involved when it comes to written questions; getting answers for their constituents and probing the government (if, like Ms Nash, you are in opposition). I haven't seen her in the local rag mag since her election either. If she is doing anything, she's keeping a low profile. I doubt anyone in Airdrie even knows who she is, which is pretty poor. Compare that to Tom Clarke MP (in Coatbridge, Chryston & Bellshill) who's active in debates, asking plenty of questions, and is very very good at communicating with the community as a whole.

I'm not opposed to her being invited; I just reckon she won't be. I doubt the SNP lot would be keen to be seen alongside a Labour MP.
