There is a post here that gives a very good idea of how and why air flow indicators are in modern locomotive cabs.

brake fade

Watching the virgin driver in peru documentary. Im familiar with Brake Fade on commercial vehicles. Is this ever an issue for trains over here please?

In pictures these gauges appear to have two pointers, red and white. Why?

One for each pipe - one for the brake pipe and the other for the main reservoir?
