Hi, I was wondering if people had specific AI text prompts they used for specific AI sites to improve photos. I'm particularly thinking about removing colour casts, sharpening and reducing noise on old scans of old 110-film prints, and colour transparencies. Thanks in advance.

Hello @JRHurst - great question and I will offer my limited experience -
Non AI
I quite often use Google's photo-editing app on my phone, to remove unwanted pole, wire etc protruding above a train, or to improve colour balance / contrast / sharpness. Works OK.
AI
I used Google Gemini Pro AI software to re-touch ten photos and to remove fogging from edge of one. My photos were:
a) 35mm, scanned and saved digitally, or
b) taken on a decent digital compact.
VIewing on a 32" pc monitor, source images were sharp and decent resolution.
However, with AI re-touching, even with best settings on "Pro + Extended Thinking", none of the results were good enough resolution; all rendered very pixellated. I deleted them.

Below is a 30yr old family photo where the colour has been affected by the light. I took a digital photo of it and asked Google Gemini to “Restore this photo “. The resulting image is also shown. The faces have been covered here to disguise the innocent .
Quite a difference from a simple prompt.
It doesn’t always work this well though. I tried doing the same with a picture of my late mother and Gemini made her look Chinese!
