The rail axle passing through the road wheel will make for an interesting ride, too.
That is a fair point.

I was marvelling at the advancement to actually put the front wheel on the rail and did not spot the axle.

Thank you :D

I tried something similar but it looks like our intrepid explorers hit a spot of bad track. I did not specify 'archetypal English countryside'. I note the signal at the top of the road; maybe the photo captures the moment when the bike transfers from road to rail, or vice versa.
Very genteel. There's a touch of the Jeeves and Wooster about that scene. One thing that does strike me about your image, and the others here latterly, is how good AI is at becoming at getting track details right. That bullhead track looks pretty authentic. One giveaway still for AI is that it doesn't really do realistic OLE but I'm sure that will come. Anyway - am really enjoying this Alice-in-Railwayland thread. Fab!

What if the tram-train trial on the Penistone Line first mooted in 2010 had been a success and led to a rather unconventional form of electrification of the line?

From Shakespeare, Fry, Dickens, and Churchill, the Bank of England has celebrated famous/significant figures for decades. But not for much longer...

BBC story:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4geyyg9en6o

Quote:

I admit that I'm something of a nerd about this. Drawing up who should feature on notes has felt rather inconsistent and sometimes illogical (Elizabeth Fry was considered rather obscure, Jane Austen's note features a quote she didn't say, and for the best part of twenty years the £50 celebrated Sir John Houblon, not exactly a household name)

I'm cautious about wildlife in case the new designs look rather generic. What does the forum think about losing people and gaining, potentially, deer, owls, and robins?
R.E. The above, here are my suggestions for the new design on banknotes.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's already been done. What would happen if Rail Forums were in charge of GBR.

What if the Middle East conflict led to oil supplies running out so TOCs could no longer run diesel services? Fear not - maybe, just maybe, the rumour really turned out to be true?

Try as I might, I couldn't get a class 37 on a £37 note!

Given fewer people tend to use cash these days; I'm totally here for the sheer chaos caused at checkouts of people having to do both the mental arithmetic and then to pay in multiples of 37!

(I'll freely admit these days my own ability to swiftly do maths when paying has similarly declined in an age of Contactless / Apple Pay for nearly everything!)

Or make it even crueller, with separate notes for
£37.00, £37.30, £37.40, £37.50, £37.70, £37.90.
£47.00, £47.30, £47.40, £47.70, £47.80 (and a special edition £47.60 / £47.90 with 47 601 / 47 901...)
;)

Some brilliant images to catch up on. The cows are clearly enjoying sticking their heads out in the open countryside. I do hope there are no carriage brushing buddleia around the corner.

Great banknotes too. I deal in the £730.00 and £730.20 notes.

This is brilliant. But should the train not be a diesel-hauled rake of Mk4 carriages that had been specially adapted with droplights? Could use Mk2s but there are mixed opinions on the seats.

Building on the steam assistance series. Here we see an A4 offering cross-pennine assistance to a Pendolino. Sadly, the A4 was too strong for the internal couplings and only 3 carriages of the Hitchcock special livery train have been brought along.

What if the Rail-Head Treatment Train and the Snow + Ice Treatment Train, were used for slightly more defensive purposes?
You might want to check overhead clearance on the second one.

But if the intention is to deny use of the railway to opposing forces, blowing a bridge up might be easier and as effective.

To be fair, TfW started it with their armoured off-rail 150/2 invading Manchester (Image from January)

It just appears to have taken the DfT a long time to formulate a response. Previous attempts never got beyond a Class 180 driving car in a Wiltshire field.

I suspect the escalating situation with the cycle reservation stand-off and the armoured 180 are not related. However, I would like to read a thread in the "Disputes and Prosecutions" forum about the use of missiles as a deterrent to non-compliance with ticket restrictions.

We might see a story:
Five Get Caught Using Only A "Two Together" Ticket
I trust you will write a suitable letter to get them off. Clearly, it is a case of only needing 4 tickets. The incompetence of the penalty fare issuing agent to say five clearly invalidates the claim.

I would not encourage Five to contact the station for the CCTV to prove there was only 4 tickets needed. The dog fouling charge that would follow would be unnecessary self-incrimination. No one should encourage people to incriminate themselves with regard to the railway.

Now if it was 5ive on the other hand...

The unnecessary woke-esque merge of Father's Day and Mother's Day on the platform display was not actually my request. Nor were the adverts for other "Days" which the USA celebrates today. Do chceck out the Armadillo podcast though ;)
