Looks like they put all ~20 of their remaining 150s together for this one!
Have to hand it to the 150s, they keep going.

future3.jpg

Possibly delayed by a signalling issue at Shrewsbury...

It is that or TfW have got their last 20 through another round of C6 exams while the Craven Arms borough council planning department permitted some new green buildings to be constructed. Cleverly passive provision has been made for four-tracking towards the Heart of Wales line.

Sadly, all of this is realistic.

Marvellous stuff @Topological 8-) :D
I like how the EV versus ICE trend has come full circle, as that traffic looks mostly like fossil burners.
The DMU depot thoughtfully put all the carriages cab-first, to ensure the lash-up remains coupled together. Excellent work!
You will note too that the traffic planners are still messing with drivers, dictating as they have that all lanes must be towards the camera.

Gemini does fully understand how politicians in the UK cannot make hard decisions and will undoubtedly cede to the ICE lobbyists forever :)future4.png
Even post apocalypse, the 150s are still going strong and still passing Craven Arms on a Manchester train (I fear this may be so late it will turn at Wilmslow)

A change of TOC, several years after the Midland Main Line's electrification is completed. The new TOC, Avinalaff, runs the service branded Midland 2100, with midlife-refurbished 810s, plus "next-gen" bi-mode version of Meridian units.

That more slab faced thing is probably the best rendering of an 80x I have seen from AI. Everything seems right down the side of the train. It even has 5 carriages. The curve on the roof to the front is very 80x. It just looks like it got its face slapped flat. Presumably by the wave of disappointment that the electrification is still not finished for all of the tracks :)

If 810s are only getting their midlife refurbishment in 2100 I dread to think how long they'll last (2200?)
maybe by then Midland main line electrification would reach Sheffield

Inspired by the incident at Neath. Steam era, because all attempts at a modern scene created equally quaint 'heritage' scenes but with a Pendolino-esque train with cows merged into the front window.

Trouble on the line - the new battery-power 2- and 4-car units, replacing all remaining Sprinters, undergo some proving runs on the Midland Main Line.
One 2-car unit suffers complete loss of power - necesitating rescue by a 4-car set running back "wrong line" to couple up.

The station sign - interesting that AI can either not read (letters) nor write (or both). Should be a useful input to thoe debate over AI having "feelings" and therefore "rights".

Proof, if any was needed, that the MML Electrification is a waste of time. They didnt even order units with pantographs?

(It is possible that someone invented a cover for the pantograph so it minimises the drag when running on batteries)

Ah - the Sphincter* fleet of battery + OHLE bi-mode units are indeed equipped with pans.
This pair is drawing OHLE power - it's undergoing test under the fully-completed MML wires. The units it is powering and pushing have all their pantographs down - the nearer vehicle has its "door unlocked" LED light on (faulty OEM). Someone left its cab LED strip lights set for "forward"...

Those 100% battery 2- and 4-car units will be operationally deployed onto non-OHLE routes. Scotland's routes north of Edinburgh and Glasgow are a potential use.

*So-named for the "route between the cheeks of England".

Did you specifically ask it to do Derby? Or did it just pick reference photos that all happened to be taken there

The Spanish Galleon Restoration Group's annual "river-sail-and-deck-barbecue" takes an unfortunate turn...

Earliest known example of flailing from a railway vehicle and bellowing: "My Lords!"
Meanwhile, other early 19th Century engineers were utterly convinced air travel would be "the future" - and they had the foresight to offer "long-haul" and "short-hop" options...

Pure fluke. :) I merely described the statiion's layout, track curvature, construction materials and architectural style

There are some great “what if…” pictures floating around that speculate as to what later BR steam engines would have looked like if they had been permitted to live out their natural lifespans on the mainline.

Not sure if they are AI, though…

What if....the TGV was a steam train? I assume the caternary is there for redundancy purposes

And the duplex cylinders?
Can't explain those, but in this ultimate development of Chapelon's techniques, the steam production is hybrid, powered by France's cheap nuclear electricity on the trunk electrified LGV network while also being able to fire up oil burners for unwired sections beyond. The train is pictured at a changeover location shortly before leaving the OHLE, having just fired up the burners.

California Zephyr - recalling the 1950s in Kansas or Nebraska. Perhaps it's me but it feels very much like The Truman Show - especially when Gemini sent its cars back across the fields, ready to appear in a different "TV set"...

As V (for Vendetta) nearly said: "There is no Black Five, Delia - only the illusion of a Black Five". Happy Bonfire Night.

Gemini goes rogue again:
Whist writing compositions of North Wales coastal steam - "normal" results linked below - I was bewildered at this one. The Stanier Black Five's wheel arrangement and shape are suspect - but a submarine sailing in the sky over the Welsh castle...?

Don't let the lack of wings fool you, the flying submarine is the perfect versatile craft. It can be the WAG express, WAG air, WAG sail and WAG underwater all at the same time.
