Just out of interest what path would a freight train take from Mountsorrel to Cambridge?

Most likely through Peterborough?

I've only ever one single freight go through Cambridge before. Just one Network Rail works train. Which leads me to believe that up until now there have been no commercially ran freights through there for some time.

There are a few commercial freights that run through Cambridge on a regular, not always daily basis.

West Thurrock - Tunstead cement
Felixstowe - Bristol Freightliner, regular diversions via Cambridge at night
Mountsorrel - Harlow Mill stone traffic

Last week the Brett aggregate terminal at Sevington, Ashford (Kent) was occupied by a Freightliner 66 and what looked like the High Output Ballast Cleaner. Can anyone enlighten me?

Last week the Brett aggregate terminal at Sevington, Ashford (Kent) was occupied by a Freightliner 66 and what looked like the High Output Ballast Cleaner. Can anyone enlighten me?

The MOBC has been based there for overnight work on the Maidstone (East) line.

It has (temporaily) returned to its previous Taunton base, but I understand
that it is due to go back to Sevington later in the year.
