I just joined the site today and I have a few questions regarding trainee train driver jobs so any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.
First of all I am 46 year old is my age going to be an issue with the TOCs in me getting a job as a trainee driver?

A friend of mine took early retirement from his (non railway) job in his early 50s and then got a job as a driver with EWS, so I can't see why it should be a problem.

As long as you are healthy & confident of passing the medical it won't be an issue. I will be 43 when I start as a driver in June.

IMHO they're looking for people of all ages, but it will count in your favour your life experience, job experience, etc

I'm 46 and coming toward the end of my trainee driver course.

Good luck by the way ;)

At that age you will (hopefully) have the sort of life experience TOCs are looking for plus the fact that you will probably stay put where-as younger people tend to start, get trained up but then head towards the 'glory' TOCs leaving the original TOC out of pocket.

get the application form filled in and go for it.

Oh I was 42 when I did my training and I was in the younger half of the group. your age will probably be more a help than a hinderance.
