Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
This morning, I finally saw a Greater Anglia 170 with new seat covers. 170271 is the "lucky" precipitant. The covers themselves seem to be yet another variant of the grey/black covers that are going into the MK3s, 317s and 360s

Sadly, despite the smarter interior, the unit still carries the old Anglia Railways green/white fade livery.

No units to get a re-livery just yet. Seat covers are similar if not the same as 360s. plans are to completely re-seat them. Not sure why.

They'd look really smart with the same wood veneer and tables as the mkiii's.
The seats do seem fine.

I'd love to know why AGA are only recovering the seats across the fleet at this late stage in their franchise.

Don't get me wrong, it's great the work's being done but I'd have thought that they would have done this right at the start of their term, after all the next franchisee may choose to refurb the entire fleet when they get their feet under the desk..

Too be fair it's been extension after extension since 2012. You can't call it late in their franchise as there never has really been one. Goal posts keep a moving.

Tbh i find the AGA 170s v tatty now. 170270 has had a broken seat for ages last seen last week now with fetching tape with word 'quarantine' in it. Looks a real mess. Nearby seats are filthy, disabled toilet blocked off. Pretty low standards. The new covers on that 170 are not the same as the 360s. Looked to me like inferior and likely will look a mess in no time. Same filthy carpets too. 153s have poor lighting that makes them feel dingy, they all seem to smell too. The 156s are the best by far

They covers look pretty much the same. As almost black they should take a long while to look a mess.

It's quite common for trains to be out of sync for internal and external refreshes, bar when the work is done by one company or possibly being used as a demonstrator, or for publicity purposes.

The new seat covers, as well as the upgraded seats in first class on the 317/6s are excellent.

But at least they move. Sure you'd be complaining more if the services couldn't be run
