Advice on ticket to London Zone 3

Hi everyone, I'm planning to travel tomorrow from Benfleet to Highgate and return, three adults (1x 16-17 saver, 1x Network railcard, 1x Senior railcard). I've had a look on the forum's ticketing platform and found tickets for £48.50 for a return to Zones 1-3, and £39.50 for a return to just Zone 3 (I think I remembered the prices right!) . I assume with this cheaper option we would be required to get from Barking/Stratford to Highgate entirely within Zone 3 which I don't think is possible? So is the Zone 1-3 our best option? Barking to Highgate entirely within Zone 3 (once on the underground) would need interchange at Upper Holloway for Archway, and then Northern Line to Highgate. Upper Holloway is Zone 2 but still on National Rail. Archway is Zone 2+3 boundary.

(There is a cheaper Benfleet to Upper Holloway fare but this seems to be routed via Hackney Wick, so therefore Stratford / Gospel Oak.)
