Advice Needed!!!

Ok so this may sound totally stupid but here goes...

Just been having a look about the forum and stumbled across the Sim Games. Although I knew they existed I didn't know to such fantastic detail!

I want one!

But where to start!? First of who's sim is best?

I'd love to 'drive' HST's, 91's and 373's (GNER) up and down the ECML, is this possible?

Also need to know....well pretty much everything, where's best to get them how do I add routes and trains as I go?

Any advice would be much appriciated and please remember I'm totally new to this game!

Well, for the ECML, I'd suggest Trainz, but the most recent one; TS2010. It has the ECML route built in, as well as a good HST (better than the original Auran one ) which has also now been reskinned into GNER.
There's also a really good 225 in GNER livery.
I think there's a payware Eurostar somewhere, but I can't remember where.

That's one thing that's good about Trainz; most of the content is freeware.

Hi GNER 373, if you are looking for a good train sim I think the Rail simulator or railworks may suit you. If you wnat it cheap look a amozone.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been looking at YouTube videos of the different types of train sim and I still haven't decided which one is best plus saving for my wedding has put a delay on the purchase of a decent PC to run it on!

I may request such a wedding gift haha!

if youre into the east coast there is also Microsoft train simulator (MSTS). with the east coast express add-on packs. the good thing about MSTS is it will run on just about any computer as long as you have windows 98 or later. though for some setups you may have to compramise detail for performance. The east cosat express add-ons as far as i know have the route from kings cross to leeds and are sold in 4 parts (there could be more not looked for a while)

The Wedding is now done so a PC/Laptop is on the cards....MSTS EC it may be gonna check Amazon/eBay etc etc will let you know how I get on!!!

Just had a look on Amazon and MSTS + the East Coast Express add-on's comes to cracking on for £50 based on getting them used. ebay can be good for value but most of the time its a case of when what you want comes up, ive always bought MSTS stuff off amazon and have never been dissapointed. If you have a branch of CEX in your local area it may also be worth having a scout round there as they do get MSTS and Trainz software in on the odd occasion. Also West Coast express is a good fun add-on to have even if the pendo is in the wrong livery (intercity swallow). Happy simming my friend.
