Advanced Tickets - Cross London Transfer

I'm looking at travelling from Bedford to Swansea with First Advance Singles, and to do so will have to travel from St Pancras to Paddington. As I'd prefer not to negotiate the tube with a suitcase, I was considering taking a taxi.
Am I permitted to do this with my First Advance Singles, or is it considered a break of journey or similar?

It's not a break of journey (but the train companies won't usually pay your taxi fare). You may also want to consider the 205 bus from St Pancras to Paddington. £2 single if you buy the ticket from the machine at the bus stop. £1 single if you use an Oyster card.

What time will you be making that transfer? Unless it's a massive suitcase, or it's rush hour, it will probably be easier on the tube (in my opinion)

It probably will be easiest by tube (or bus) actually, especially seeing as I've just found out how much a taxi is!
I haven't got a definite time yet as I'm still in the planning stage, however I will be avoiding the rush hours so not travelling through London before 10am, or between 4 and 7-8pm.
It will also be the cheapest I assume as my ticket will include the transfer by tube.

If you've got a ticket direct from Bedford to Swansea or anywhere west of London on the GWML then your ticket will include the tube. If, however, you're buying singles Bedford - London and London - Swansea then your tickets will not include a transfer.

St Pancras and Paddington tube stations aren't too bad to negotiate with luggage (though it can be a reasonable walk at each end), and it's a direct tube anyway.

It's a bit more roundabout, but if you're headed from Bedford to London on First Capital Connect with luggage (instead of the fast East Midlands Trains service), it's easier to change at Farringdon. You come off the FCC train, cross over the platform (up maybe 5 steps) and the Circle/H&C lines leave from there.

This works less well in the other direction.
