I've read lots of discussions but can't find definitive answer to this-

Advance VT only ticket excessed to Off-Peak Single (Route Any Permitted printed on ticket)

Is the new ticket valid on any permitted route or VT only?

Thanks,

It's valid on any permitted route as long as the train is operated by Virgin. You can't excess away the operator restriction.

I meant route/TOC.

So not valid on TPE then?

I was misled by the new ticket saying Any Permitted route then! I would have expected it to say VT only... cost me that....should have known better tbf.

If you have been sold a brand new ticket then it is obviously any company.

If it's merely an excess then the original restrictions remain.

If it's an excess its only valid on the original company - this is because theres not currently a way to redistribute the money the original TOC took for the advance in the way just buying an any operator single/return does (through a system called ORCATS). Because of this, the original TOC (in this case VT) keeps all the money thus it only being valid on VT.
