hello to all!
I am not from the Uk..and i have a few Q

i am using trains where i have to change several times
the changing times are only a few minutes..
if am not able to catch the connecting train and have an advance ticket (which as you know can onl ybe used for that particular train to that particular time) do i have to pay some extra charge..even though it isnt my fault that thw connected train did leave and did not wait? when its only a matter of minutes? or do connecting trains wait for each other?

the only info i found is " the train you purchased a ticket for is cancelled or delayed by more than 60 minutes, special arrangements will be made to accommodate you on another train "
well but only if the are 60 minutes later -what its a matter of minutes to miss them?
or another example the train from where you start your journey is 30 minutes late so the 3 minute change to the connecting train is out of the question?

is there a difference of connecting trains waiting for each other if its ffrom the same company .what if one travel with several diff companies like from north to south?

also i want to buy a advance t ticket (22 pound) on sat, the 18th june.from inverness to gourock which have become avaiable today for sale start. surpringly the advance ticket are gone.even though the tstartime possibitly to buy it is today and the time i was traveling- 6.47 am is very early
.i checked another saturday a week earlier and the 22 pound are avaiable there...but i must travel on the 18th
.is there a chance the cheap fare might become avaiable again or does this def mean i do not have to wait to a return of the 22 pound again
. cause once they re not avaiable (not only cause there was a demand but also there might be a fault-meaning that they havent released it even thoufgh they should acc to the trainlinesite- but maybe a few days later than they release them.iee. instead of today .next week?or ihas that never happned.i.e faults in realise advance tickets later than announced?)

thanks very much-much appreciated.

Hi,

In answer to your first question, it depends whether youve allowed for the minimum connection time at the stations where you change trains. This is documented on http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/ (search for the station youre changing at, the min connection time is at the top of the table for each station). If youve allowed enough time between the scheduled arrival of the first train and the scheduled departure of the second, you should be fine to catch the next available service :)

It's probable that advance tickets simply haven't been released for the journey, try checking back on Monday

And don't use thetrainline; they charge a higher fee than using a train operating company's website.

There is another part that you need to look at;
"If delays occur while travelling, you will be allowed to take the next available train(s) to complete your journey."

It is very unlikely that any train will wait for a late connection.

I assume that you have a through booking, ie. the whole journey on one ticket with separate reservation coupons. In that case you have absolutely nothing to worry about if you miss your connection due to late running of a preceding train. You should be able to travel on the next available service. I would try and get the ticket endorsed at the ticket office if possible to save potential arguments with the next guard however you're not obliged to do that.

If you miss the last train of the day, the railway's obliged to either get you to your destination by other means or provide overnight accommodation.

If you don't have mobility issues then the minimum connection time should usually be enough.

Hi,

and this really is always possible..as longs s the first train is late(the companies fault being late) so even though you would run like a sprinter one isnt able to get the connecting train? cause it so cleary states: the advance ticket only aplies for the certain train at a cetain travel time you booked them.and im reall afriad they asked me to charge same day travel price when i hop on the next connecting train
concerning catching the next connecting train without getting extra charged: what if they are from different companies or from the same company?does this make any difference to be able to catch the connecting trains without extra charge if the connecting train is from the same compayn or from a totally different one? the one other company might not be a informed about the late arrival of the first train from the other company and therefore refuse to acept me with my specific time advance time ticket..not every station would have a counter where i can complain then..as i travel through many liitle stations.

It's probable that advance tickets simply haven't been released for the journey, try checking back on Monday
hmmm for friday the 17 june the 20 pound advane fares were already avaible...a few days ago but not eh 18th
the company replied
Currently, the cheap advance purchase tickets are not available for the journey. These tickets are released by the Train Operating Companies 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
is this unusal? isnt that always that it gets released in 12 weeks advance
and not in 6-8 weeks? if thats the case i wonder why the advance tixs for the 17th june are avaiable already. i really wonder what takes them so long to asdd that 18th june when the 17 is avaiable for a longer time now,,,

And don't use thetrainline; they charge a higher fee than using a train operating company's website.
so by now as far as i understand right: one can book at certain train companies even one does not travel in their area..but not every certain train company prob serves all routes...
east coast seems to be good as they have no booking fees acc to
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-train-tickets
and they seem to function the same way. liek trainline.printing them out at ticket maschine, paying with credit cards etc
and national rail dont sell them but leads you to all sites who sell them...

There is another part that you need to look at;

is there a difference between waiting onto each other if they are different companies or from the same company?
