What dictates what trains Advance tickets are available for? A friend of mine is trying to get from Chesterfield to Newcastle in February, going out on the Saturday and back on the Sunday.
But it seems that no matter what train she tries or what route she chooses, there are no Advance tickets available at all. is this usual?

Also, which station still have Travel Centres rather than just a Ticket Office? There used to be one at Brighton, when I lived there, which was really good and could answer just about any rail-related query. Would Sheffield have one? If so, I might suggests she goes to have a chat with them..

There are Advance Purchase flows for this journey, so they must have either sold out or are not yet avaliable.

There are still quite a few stations with Travel Centres. If you go to one that doesn't though (or it's closed) then they should oblige to assist you, obviously I'd avoid peak hours as courtesy to fellow passengers who may be travelling on the next available train

Arriva XC had only released weekend advanced tickets until Sat 24 Jan/Sun 18 Jan at the beginning of the week so I would guess they are still to be released.
