This has been down all night and still is now. Wanting to book some on the day cross country advances! Seems unprecedented for it to be down for so long, and unscheduled. Anyone know what's going on

It's some upgrade required for NRS. It was supposed to be from 23.00 last night to 08.00 this morning. But it carried on until 10.00 this morning. It's been fine since then. Booking sites should have been carrying notification messages, as it's been planned for a while.

I don't have a great problem with planned IT system outages for upgrade work but I know others who are of the opinion that outages on production systems, particularly public-facing commerce/sales systems, should be the very last resort and system upgrades shouldn't interrupt service (easier said than done in many cases I suspect).
